St Mary’s Receives the Star Council Award

Wow did it!
Congratulations to every member of St Mary of the People Council 8611 on achieving the Star Council Award for the 2024/25 Fraternal Year. This is a huge accomplishment!
Our Worthy District Deputy Ken Cavanagh kept the award as a surprise for our General Meeting, unveiling it just as the meeting was winding down.
While we have known for quite some time that the council did achieve this important distinction, it’s amazing to have the plaque in hand! For those who weren’t in attendance you’ll be able to see it currently displayed in the cabinet next to the North exit of the parish hall.
Receiving this award is an acknowledgement of the tremendous effort the council has put in over the past year. A council must achieve excellence in three areas by earning the Father McGivney Award (membership growth, of which we achieved 160% of our goal), the Founders’ Award (insurance growth), and the Columbian Award (programming). Of note, the Columbian award is for fulfilling 16 program credits, with four credits in each of the four categories: Faith, Family, Community and Life.
Congratulations again to everyone and thank you for all of your hard work! Your community is a better place because of the efforts you have made.
