Oktoberfest Success

As our first full parish-wide event since Covid, the Knights of Columbus Council 8611 Oktoberfest Dinner and Dance was an enthusiastic success.

With just shy of 100 members from the St Mary of the People Parish, as well as surrounding parishes and KofC councils, a great time was had by all. In particular we welcomed members of the Notre-Dame and St Gertrude councils.

There was an impressive spread of festive dishes, plenty of suds to wash it down and more desert than anyone could handle.

And thanks to some fun music from our local DJ Mel Buddel, everyone had a chance to hit the dance floor – the slow songs proved particularly popular!

A special thank you to Brother Steve Kralj who organized the entire event, as well as to those who helped behind the scenes to make this evening possible.

Funds raised from the sale of tickets and the particularly popular 50/50 draw will go towards supporting future Knights of Columbus Council 8611 activities and charities.

In addition to parish priest Fr. Bollo, we had the honour of hosting several other members of the clergy including Msgr. James Hannah (left) a former deacon of the parish and Fr. Andy Macbeth (2nd from left).
