Council 8611 Attends the Knights of Columbus Ontario State Convention 2025
Recently St Mary of the People Knights of Columbus Council 8611 attended the 122nd Ontario State Convention.
Representatives of the council included Financial Secretary John Hildyard and his wife Janet, as well as Grand Knight Colum Wood with his wife Stephanie.
Of note, the Ontario State Convention was held in Ottawa to help celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Knights of Columbus in Canada.
Oshawa was well represented with several other councils there – see photos of St Joseph of the Worker Parish Grand Knight Shane James and Deputy Grand Knight Ikenna Cyril. Plus, if you look really hard you’ll spy our Distric Deputy singing his heart out during a particularly lively portion of the Saturday evening dinner.
In addition to plenty of business being handled and lots of information, an incredible mass was held at Notre Dame Cathedral with a massive honour guard and more priests on the altar than one could count (easily at least). A powerful keynote speech by pro life activist Abby Johnson is also sure to have left a lasting impact with all those who heard her message.
